All the district’s schools and colleges to be tobacco-free zones soon. On January 12, as part of the National Tobacco Control Programme the district-level coordination committee meeting was conducted in the DC office.
The Tobacco Control Act makes it illegal to sell tobacco products within a 100-meter radius of educational institutions, so name boards declaring a tobacco-free zone must be placed near schools and colleges, and those who break the rule will be penalized. Those who sell tobacco products near schools or institutions will be prosecuted.
