In the middle of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools in Dakshina Kannada (DK) are preparing for the SSLC examination. All of the schools have finished their curriculum, which had been reduced by 80% owing to the pandemic. That exam will be conducted as normal, with no exceptions.
All schools in the DK district have completed their syllabus for SSLC exams. Teachers feared a lockdown and closure of schools that could hamper studies, slogging to complete the syllabus well in advance. Schools are continuing as usual, except in institutions with five or more cases of Covid-19 that had to be shut down for a week. About 5% of SSLC students continue to remain absent from classes every day.
