For a long time now, there have been suggestions for a road to be laid on the tunnel dug roads that lie on the highway between Mangaluru and Bengaluru specifically on the Shiradi Ghat stretch. This work is expected to start soon under the Central government project of Bharat Mala. The process for acquiring land that is required is scheduled to begin December end
The required procedures have already been carried out. The notification for land that is to be acquired is awaited by the National Highway Authority of India. Between Addahole and Heggadde in Sakleshpur, there is the plan to construct tunnels by rigging 24.57 km of land. The project report that was submitted earlier has been considered with minor modifications like choosing the construction of 7 bridges and 6 tunnels over the previously proposed 10 bridges has been approved. The project report that is of a detailed nature will be submitted soon.
The route map of the roads that will cover the regions Addahole, Gundia, Yedakumeri, Kadagaravalli and Marnahalli. Seven years ago, the project report was prepared by Japan International Cooperative Agency who proposed a cost of Rs 10,015 crore for the completion of the project.
