The Sarige Suraksha, or ICU on Wheels, bus service has started at the KSRTC depot in Mangaluru’s BC Road to treat patients from rural regions. The ICU on wheels, which was built in medical facilities by the KSRTC for Rs 10 lakh, is the second such attempt by the KSRTC to help during the epidemic. For the first time, the ICU on wheels arrived in the KSRTC Puttur division, which includes Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts. The MLA has requested the Transport Minister to approve an ICU on wheels for Bantwal.
The five-bedded bus assistant ambulance is equipped with a ventilator, oxygen system for each bed, patient monitor (BP, Oxygen Amount, ECG, Temperature) system, and an emergency medical system along with a generator to power the equipment. The bus has a siren facility similar to that of an ambulance. There’s also a bulletin board. On July 13, the MLA will launch the ICU on wheels at Polali. Once every two months, the Sarige Suraksha, or “ICU on Wheels,” service will visit villages. As per the KSRTC BC Road depot Manager, the bus will have a doctor and a health assistant from the health department.
