COVID-19 vaccination coverage in India has achieved 150 crore doses. So far, eligible recipients have received a total of 1,50,02,97,259 vaccination doses. On January 16, 2021, India had started the coronavirus vaccination campaign. The COVID vaccination doses were given to healthcare workers and front-line workers in the first phase.
The prioritized age groups included people over 60 years of age and people over 45 years of age with associated specified co-morbidities. India is using three vaccines against COVID-19 in its vaccination drive. Serum Institute of India’s Covishield, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, and Russia’s Sputnik V. ZyCoV-D, the plasmid DNA vaccine, has also received approval from the government. Teenagers have positively responded to the vaccination drive, and over 1.5 crore vaccine doses have already been administered.
