Referring to the instance of the 44-day lockdown in Maharashtra that successfully curbed the infection, Dr K Sudhakar urged people to follow the COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines imposed.

To break the chain, a 14-day lockdown has been imposed in the state from the night of April 27, 2021 to May 12, 2021 with essential services allowed from 6 am to 10 am. The Chief Minister, in his tweet, had requested citizens to follow guidelines, cooperate with the government, stay indoors and step out only in case of an emergency to help defeat the virus.

The state, reporting over 48,000 cases in a single day, out of which half the cases were in Bengaluru itself, reached a mark of over 4 lakh active cases with as many as 15,523 deaths since last year.
