As of Thursday, Karnataka has vaccinated 94 % of the adult population with two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, having given out over 9.1 crore doses to over 4.8 eligible crore people. Only a few weeks ago, the state set a new vaccination record by vaccinating 100% of the adult population with a single dose.
On Sunday (January 23), the state administered both dosages to 85% of the target population. More than 9.1 crores of them have been distributed to the adult population. Only three districts (Kalaburagi, Raichur, and Yadgir) were below the 80% mark. Every day, the state government administers around 1.9 lakh doses, including preemptive doses and vaccinations for minors. Furthermore, the adult population receives the majority of the daily dosages.
More than 22 lakh teens have received the first dosage, with over 1.9 lakh in Belagavi and more than three lakh in Bengaluru, including BBMP and Bengaluru Urban districts. Healthcare workers (HCWs), frontline workers (FLWs), and the elderly have also received over 6.2 lakh precautionary dosages from the government (more than 60 years old).
