Karnataka’s quarantine rules create confusion for travellers from Kerala.

The rule for 7-day quarantine has created chaos among travelers in Kerala. About 25,000 reach Bangalore from different parts of Kerala on a daily basis and around 1,000 more travel by other private means. Also, there are 11 daily flights between Kerala and Karnataka. These travelers are badly affected by these rules. In view of the situation in Kerala, people should’ve been given the option of Home Quarantine, which would make it easier for people

During the previous entry bans, individuals with RT-PCR negative certificates or vaccination certificates could enter the state, while the present rule does not allow this as well. Passengers with RT-PCR were allowed to proceed on Tuesday, but there remains confusion about the further decision from the government’s side.

Passengers were only asked for an RT-PCR negative certificate at the Kempegowda International Airport. There hasn’t been any communication from the government about the institutional quarantine at the Bangalore International Airport till Tuesday evening.

Those arriving at Bengaluru KSRTC Bus stand were allowed to proceed after giving test samples. It is also possible that many would first enter Tamilnadu and then enter Karnataka, and hence it is doubtful that the rule would be practical. There was also confusion as to whether the rule would be applicable to students and employees. The government has said that the rules would apply to all.
