The coastal city has always been an abode for trekkers, surfers and nature enthusiasts. Many travel from distant places to trek the Kodachadri hill. A project of cable car installment from Kollur to Kodachadri hill summit was initiated with an outlay of Rs.1,000 crore. This dream is to become reality within the next three years.
Under the state government initiative the land of 100 acres has been surveyed to set up this project. Halliberu, Dali and Salageri are chosen as the spots for boarding with the final destination as kodachadri. Ultimately, the exact locations will be decided based on the area with least number of trees, which will be taken by the forest department. The action will take place a few months from now to create this reality, says the Byndoor MLA.
Unlike the 32 kms of actual distance from Kodachadri to Kollur, the cable car experience will be of 11 kms, with the added beauty of greenery and nature, making this a memorable experience every time we travel. The development works for this project are to be started without any damage to the natural biodiversity, says the tourism department.
There is also a disparity to this initiative, assuming the natural medicinal and indigenious biodiversity to be hampered. Many environmentalists and organisations are planning to join hands towards resistance against this project. The final decision must be such that the locals must be benefited with no damage to nature.
