On Sunday, April 10, N Shashi Kumar, Commissioner of Mangaluru City Police flagged off enthusiastic participants for interesting cycling around the city, City based Land Trades Builders and Developers are the ones who organized a cycling event, the Land Trades ProRide Cyclothon (Edition 1) to mark World Health Day. It started from the company’s premises Milestone 25 at Balmatta, Mangaluru.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner congratulated Land Trades on organizing ProRide Cyclothon. “Nowadays people are health conscious. Cycling is a very good exercise. I am also a cycling enthusiast. Cycling is the best way to keep oneself healthy and fit. It is also good for the environment. Everybody should take up cycling and ride every day for at least 10 to 15 km. People should commute by cycle to college, schools or office and become the ambassadors of the green revolution,” he said.
The Commissioner himself participated in the main event by undertaking a long cycle ride around the streets of Mangaluru. It was highly inspiring and motivating for the citizens to see that the top police official was a fitness enthusiast and was able to undertake the arduous ride.
On this occasion, veteran cycling enthusiast Joseph Pereira was felicitated by Shashi Kumar with a Shawl, memento, fruits and citation in the presence of Shrinath Hebbar, Chairman of Land Trades Builders and Developers.
Cyclists from WeRC and MACC participated in the ProRide Cyclothon along with many others who participated enthusiastically without any age barriers.
