Within the boundaries of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), street vendor survey programmes have been organised. During the survey, street vendors inside the MCC boundaries will be handed identity cards and street vending trade licences, said the MCC commissioner in a news release published on Thursday, September 16.
All street vendors are required to produce their ration card, voter ID, Aadhar card, PAN card, driving licence, bank pass book, and documents of registration with the street vendors’ organisation during the survey. Original and photocopies of the Covid-19 vaccination certificate, as well as the QR code generated for digital transactions, a mobile number linked to an Aadhar card, a photograph of the location where the trade is taking place, and family photographs and passport size images, are all required. According to the press release, all street sellers must pay Rs 50 in registration costs and acquire a suitable receipt from the surveyor.
Following the Supreme Court’s orders to execute the Street Vendors Policy, the Union Ministry of Law and Justice of India passed the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, and the Karnataka Government released the Karnataka Street Vendors.
In response, the ‘Deen Dayal Antyodyaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Campaign’ established Support to Urban Street Vendors (SUSV). Within the MCC borders, street vendor survey programmes have been organised in accordance with SUSV rules. Within the MCC boundaries, street sellers will be provided identification cards and trade permits for street vending.
