An RT-PCR testing lab is set up at the Mangalore International Airport which will start operating from Tuesday. The Air India Express has also been scheduled to be flown on this day. Online bookings have started on the official website.
This facility will be helpful to those flying to Dubai, wherein they need not have to depend on other airports across the country to travel to Dubai. The ban on flights to Dubai was taken off on August 5. However no flights could take off from Mangalore Airport as there was no availability of the RT-PCR test. This test is the main requirement to enter the UAE.
The Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner said that a dry run at the rapid lab has been tested. He added that there is a provision to conduct 30 tests at a time and the test costs 3,700 and the facility will be maintained by a private firm.
