More than 90% of college students in the Dakshina Kannada district who are eligible to get the Covid-19 vaccination have gotten at least one dose so far, which is a major relief for administrators dealing with cluster cases on campuses. Vaccination, as per heads of institutions in Karnataka’s education center, has enabled them to return to normal courses with confidence, especially because most kids would receive their second dose in a month or two.
Covid instances on college campuses have also decreased in the last month, as per health department officials. Some pupils are considered susceptible because they are unable to receive the vaccination owing to medical reasons. As per the director of a private medical college, the university has made no special arrangements for them other than masking and early testing if symptomatic.
Mangalore University’s Mangalagangothri campus in Konaje has partially immunized almost 95 percent of its pupils against Covid-19. Only about 300 postgraduate students have not yet been vaccinated, and they will be on September 29, as per MU’s vice-chancellor. Aside from them, a few members of the teaching and non-teaching staff have yet to receive the vaccine. Vaccination has helped to rebuild trust on college campuses. However, we will continue to adhere to safety standards and will not relax our vigilance. Staff and students will be reminded about SOPs regularly.
Second dosages will begin next week, as per the reproductive child health officer’s schedule. DK’s joint director of collegiate education stated that virtually all students in institutions under its control had gotten at least one dosage of the vaccine, with some being completely immunized. Udupi, DK, and Kodagu are all within the department’s authority. Two school institutions in Dakshina Kannada are now experiencing cluster breakouts, as per a nodal official for Covid-19. They may be found in the towns of Derlakatte and Kalladka.
