The Mangaluru city and Bengaluru are once again working together to widen National Highway 75. The work, which began in 2017, was abandoned by the L&T business midway through the year. The 65-kilometer stretch of roadway between BC Road and Addahole is now being widened. This project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023, as per the plans. The project to expand the road between BC Road and Addahole was previously awarded to L&T for Rs 821 crore. The business that started working had a lot of difficulties completing the project.
Some private property was acquired and transformed into roadways to straighten the route. There was a requirement to use around 21 kilometers of forest land. Stones and soil began to cascade down from the hills onto the previously dug-up road due to severe rain. As a result, the road that had previously been constructed had to be rebuilt. The business-backed out of the deal and demanded Rs 108 crore in compensation from the roads department.
The work has now been divided between two firms, one from BC Road to Periyashanti and the other from Periyashanti to Addahole. Both projects have started at the same time. Buildings and other facilities on private land are being demolished to make way for road expansion. The roadwork is expected to be finished by the end of 2023, as per MP.
To avoid any issues, the procedure of obtaining all of the land necessary for the road widening was completed ahead of time. The land has been purchased, both privately owned and forested. Buildings along the roadside in Kalladka town have been removed, and work on leveling agricultural land is progressing quickly.
