The districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada were successfully able to battle the first wave of coronavirus. However the trend isn’t easy this time and the districts are struggling to get a grip on the second wave. It has been a matter of concern that there has been a rise in the number of cases over the past two months.
The twin districts have been trying their best to curb the spread, and it is troublesome that the virus has been spreading over the rural belts as well. The people’s representatives have been doing their bit in the work as well. It has been very evident that the spread of this infection would not completely stop until the people lend their co-operation to the government by following the covid SOPs.
Not just the common man but the local administration, educational institutions also have to come forward to support the initiative. If these are followed then the battle against the pandemic will be successful.
WHAT CAN THE PEOPLE DO?
Individuals should get themselves tested the very day their body starts showing symptoms and make sure that they isolate themselves. Primary contacts of these individuals should also get themselves tested for the virus.
People should maintain an accurate distance of six feet while making conversations with one another. So far, the country has identified four variants and their cure hasn’t been invented yet. Hence it is much obliged to avoid contact with outsiders even if it is a close family relative.
Ensure that your hands and face are washed well with soaps after visiting marketplaces. It is highly advised to carry on to other activities after they wash their clothes and make sure that they are clean.
Lockdown has been implemented to avoid the movement of people and hence it is advised to follow the government guidelines and stay indoors. People must avoid gatherings and playing together in the locality for the time being.
People should not get medicines by themselves from the pharmaceutical and conduct a self cure as this can cause harm to a lot of individuals who come in contact with the particular person. As soon as the symptoms are seen it is a compulsion to get themselves tested for the disease.
The district administrations can only do their but in increasing the number of tests, spreading vaccine drive, opening more covid care centres, keep close watch on elderly citizens, formation of special teams to inspect particular areas. However the ultimate success would depend on the people who will effectively cooperate and break the chain.
