Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) has reported a 76% growth in passenger traffic for the 2022-23 financial year, handling a total of 17,94,054 passengers compared to 10,16,559 in the previous fiscal year. Of these passengers, 12.08 lakh were domestic travelers, and the remaining 5.86 lakh were international travelers, primarily to various destinations in West Asia. The airport also saw a 42% growth in air traffic movements, handling 14,475 movements in the same period.
The airport has engaged with market-leading airlines and new entrants to operate additional flights on high-demand routes such as Mumbai and Bengaluru domestically and internationally on established routes. The airport is also in discussions with airlines to operate on non-operated domestic sectors either directly or via connecting flights, which will provide more travel options for people.
