Despite the support and criticism, it has received so far, the development of an Olympic-level swimming pool complex, which has been undertaken by the Smart City project, is proceeding at a rapid speed. The pool is scheduled to be dedicated to the world by the end of 2022. The parking lot will be on the ground level, while the swimming pool will be on the first level. The swimming pool’s bottom will be formed by the ground floor’s ceiling. Work on the pool’s sidewalls and the seating area for the audience is now underway. On the other hand, offices, gyms, and other facilities will be built. The swimming pool will be covered with a roof.
The swimming pool project is estimated to cost Rs 24.94 crore. The city will be able to host national and international swimming events once it is completed. Candidates from the city might be trained at the same time to compete in international events and contests. There will be three swimming pools in this facility, one of which will be used for competitions. The other two are used for practice as well as a little pool for the kids. The facility will include a first-aid room, an anti-dumping room, a judge’s room, an official’s room, physiotherapy, a record room, toilets, a shower room, a filtration plant, and a pump room, among other things. Over 50 automobiles and two-wheelers may be parked on the bottom floor.
The development of Yemmekere ground, which is close to the pool, is also part of the project. The terrain will be leveled with mud and developed. Officials claimed that in addition to leveling the ground, a gallery for the audience would be erected on one side, modeled after stairs.
