Something beautiful has taken place in Mangalore last day, A meet up for Senior citizens with Police. “Mangaluru Police with Senior Citizens” a program was organised by the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate at the auditorium of Roshni Nilaya on September 24, Saturday.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said measures would be taken to hold senior citizens’ meet in every police station limits every month to redress the grievances of senior citizens. The Commissioner said already senior citizens’ meets are being held in some police stations.
The Commissioner added already committees of youth have been formed as per the directions of the ADGP in every police Station limits and added that shortly Commissionerate level meeting would be arranged.
Several senior citizens who were present in the meeting aired their grievances. Participants pointed out how some youth were riding vehicles haphazardly on roads and some buses were using ear shattering horns. Senior citizens also expressed concern over the vehicle riding by some minors.
“Police stations should keep a track of senior citizens’ as many of them stay alone without their children. If any untoward incident occurs in connection to the elderly, then it is easy to track the wrongdoers,” said a senior citizen.
Senior citizens also praised the police commissioner for organizing such sessions which makes them feel secure.
