Night curfews and weekend curfews have been enforced in Dakshina Kannada district, which shares its border with Kerala, in view of the sharp increase in the number of new coronavirus infection cases in Kerala. In the border district of Kodagu, night curfews and weekend curfews have been imposed as well. The deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district has set new instructions in order to successfully prevent the spread of the pandemic.
The night curfew will run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and the weekend curfew will run from 9 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday. Students can attend exams during the weekend curfew if they follow Covid standards. The students’ examination hall tickets would be treated as passes. During the weekend curfew, Nandini milk booths are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Marriages and family celebrations with a maximum of 50 people in attendance can be held with prior authorization from municipal authorities. From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., public movement is prohibited except for emergencies and very necessary causes. Following the Covid19 guidelines allows industries and businesses to conduct business. During this time, medical shops and medical emergency services are permitted to operate. Home delivery services can be continued by e-commerce enterprises. Buses, trains, and flights can also be operated.
Emergency services, state and central government offices, autonomous institutions, and enterprises can all operate normally. All industries and businesses that provide emergency and vital services are permitted to operate. Patients, their caretakers, individuals, and others who want to get vaccinated are allowed to move for emergency procedures. Food, provisions, fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish, as well as shops selling animal feed, street vendors, fair-priced shops, and independent liquor shops and stores, are all allowed to send parcels. Home delivery is recommended to avoid people moving about. Only home deliveries and parcels are permitted at restaurants and hotels. Students from Kerala who wish to study in Dakshina Kannada must enter the district 72 hours in advance with negative RT-PCR certificates and must undertake a seven-day mandatory quarantine as well as RT-PCR tests. Students who attend school or college on a regular basis are required to present negative certificates once a week.
