It has been decided now that the Karnataka government will not allow for schools and PU colleges to reopen in the state in December. The meeting headed by Chief Minister B. S Yediyurappa in Vidhana Saudha also had the presence of Primary and Secondary Education minister S Suresh Kumar informed the public their decision of not reopening schools as well as PU colleges till the end of 2021 as they are following recommendations made by the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee of the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Despite the fact that the Education department was planning on reopening these institutions after it being shut for 7 months, the meeting with the CM today confirmed otherwise. The threat of a possible second wave of the virus in Karnataka is what made the government take this decision.
Another meeting will be convened in the third week of December regarding the same issue. For now, classes will be held in the online medium and via Doordharshan’s channel Chandana regional for students of classes 5 to class 10.
