In July 2019, a 25-acre block of land in Kabaka village was approved for use in the construction of an international cricket stadium at the Deputy Commissioner level. The Revenue Department has requested that KSCA submit the plan and other project documents in order to ensure the use of the land once it is awarded.
After this, in order to build an international-caliber cricket stadium, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had requested property in Puttur. 25 acres of government land with the survey number 260/1P1 located at Kabaka within the municipality limits, around 5 km from Puttur City Center, had been identified for the stadium.
The state-government has then approved on November, 2022 a proposal to sanction land for the construction of a cricket stadium of international standards at Kabaka of Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district. The Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor said that the government’s approval will help promote talent among rural sportspersons. The stadium will be constructed by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). tnn
