From today, all schools in the Udupi district holds full-day physical classes for students from grades VI to X, in accordance with the State government’s directives. Schools have been allowed to hold classes for grades VI to X between 10 a.m. and 4.30 p.m., according to Udupi Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI). Parents have been instructed to send their children with tiffin boxes.
Since September 1, numerous students have been attending physical lessons held between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., according to Udupi Deputy Commissioner M. Kurma Rao. For several days in a row, the test positivity rate in Udupi has remained below 1%. The district intends to attain zero test positivity rate soon, he said, thanks to an increase in vaccination and testing rates.Though the test positivity rate has been around 1% for the last few days, Dakshina Kannada DDPI stated the Education Department is not considering resuming full-day classes because the test positivity percentage in Kerala’s Kasaragod district was high.
Between 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., the schools continue to hold offline classes. “Since September 17, the number of students attending offline classes has significantly increased, and just a few students are opting for online classes,” he stated.Teachers have petitioned the district administration to enable offline classes for grades I to V, according to Shivaprasad Shetty, head of the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers’ Association’s Dakshina Kannada unit.Teachers have also requested that the state government begin providing mid-day meals, he said.
