Answering JD(S) MLC HM Ramesh Gowda’s query in the council’s ‘question and answer hour’, the Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that no traffic police are permitted to ask for vehicle documents after stopping the vehicle in the middle of the road.
Speaking about this issue the honourable Home Minister noticed that the police officers incharge stopping the vehicles on the middle of road during traffic rules violations, leading to an increase in accidents. The officers are to be careful to avoid such mishaps and incidents while stopping vehicles. Regarding this the police department has been given directions to follow the set policies.
The Home minister also added that in the areas without CCTV, tracing of traffic violators, overspeeders and signal jumpers will be done using advanced technology. Apart from this no proposal was put forth in the formation of the South Zone like that of East, West and North Zones.
