Today, July 26, higher education institutions in the state, including degree colleges, will reopen, and students who have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccination will be able to attend on-campus classes if the classes are planned. Officials in Mysuru claimed more than 80% of students there had been vaccinated, while Mangalore University said 70% of students and instructors at its affiliated colleges had received the vaccine.
Authorities in Mysuru organized a special vaccination campaign for students. Over 1,000 students, including approximately 600 from government colleges, received injections on the first day. As per the official, the goal was to vaccinate roughly 3,000 students. Over 80,000 people have been immunized so far. The University of Mysore and its associated colleges are preparing to restart offline degree and postgraduate programs with no compulsion placed on attendance. On July 24, the university’s PG campus, Manasagangotri, was sanitized. Following the second wave of Covid-19, only online classes have been held till date. The registrar of the University of Mysore stated that physical sessions shall be resumed soon as the majority of students and staff members have been vaccinated.
Mangalore University, which includes campuses in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kodagu, will reopen on July 26th, however, the classes will not be held on-campus. The classes on campus will begin only when all degree and postgraduate examinations have been completed. Examinations for undergraduates will take place from August 2 to 14, while PG exams will start on August 5. As per authorities, around 70% of pupils and faculty members have received the first dosage of the vaccination.
