Saudi Arabia has approved Covishield, allowing Indians to visit the country without Quarantine

Serum Institute of India’s Covishield was recognized as an authorized Covid vaccination for entrance into the country on Friday, a major victory for Indian travelers. Saudi Arabia has made it easier for fully vaccinated Indian travelers to enter the country without needing to go through institutional quarantine.

Covishield has now joined a list of eight other vaccines that have been approved by Saudi Arabia, including Pfizer BioNTech, Comirnaty, Oxford AstraZeneca, SK Bioscience, Vaxzevria, Moderna, Spikevax, and Johnson & Johnson. The Saudi Tourism Authority stated in a statement that Indian visitors who are completely vaccinated with Saudi-approved vaccinations can enter the country without being subjected to institutional quarantine.

Indian travelers who have spent 14 days in a nation that is not on the list of countries where the entrance is temporarily barred are also authorized as long as they are properly vaccinated, as per the tourist authority.

The authorities have emphasized, however, that in all situations, a negative PCR test administered no more than 72 hours before departure is a required requirement. The approval of Covishield is viewed as a significant step forward since it paves the way for the opening of borders to Indian tourists.
