In a distinctive educational initiative, students recently embarked on a captivating journey into the world of agriculture, gaining valuable insights into the lives of farmers.
A picturesque scene unfolded as a group of children gathered in a lush paddy field, nestled in the family-owned land of Kettikal Lingappa Salian in Tiruvailu, on the outskirts of the city. Surrounded by vibrant greenery, the students couldn’t help but immerse themselves in the melodious tunes of the “Obele Obele” song. The agricultural expedition was graced by the presence of fifth, sixth, and seventh-grade students, accompanied by former students of the DK District Government Higher Primary School in Vamanjoor Tiruvail. Led by the school’s dedicated teachers, the excursion aimed to provide children with an authentic firsthand experience of the rice farming process, with Babu Salian, a local farmer, generously sharing his wealth of knowledge with the eager young learners.
After gaining profound insights into the intricacies of paddy cultivation, the students took a break from their educational pursuits for some recreational activities. The paddy fields transformed into a playground, echoing with the laughter of children engaged in running races and spirited tug-of-war competitions. Former students, not to be left out, also joined in on the fun, fostering a sense of camaraderie and community spirit.
As the day drew to a close, students reluctantly bid farewell to the picturesque paddy fields, carrying with them cherished memories of an educational outing that left an indelible mark on their young minds. This unique endeavor not only broadened their horizons but also forged a deeper appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the farming community that sustains our nation.
