After discussions over mandatory PCR certificates for people from Kerala, the district administration of Chamrajnagar has decided to make it necessary for travelers from Tamil Nadu to have a negative PCR certification. Travelers without a negative report will have to return. These rules apply to vehicle drivers bringing in essential fruits and vegetables as well.
The rule for negative PCR certificates for people from Tamil Nadu will start on Sunday. Screening has been intensified at Punajanur Checkpost, Naal road near Ardhanipura, and palar in Hanur taluk of the Karnataka- Tamil Nadu border. The state health authorities have reported that the district administration is highly vigilant on people traveling to tourist places. Mass gathering and distribution of Prasad have been prohibited.
Apart from the rules from the state government, the district administration has been imposing curbs to reduce the number of visitors during weekends. The district administration of Chamrajnagar has also restricted the mass gathering of people in temples for special Poojas. People residing in certain resorts around the district should also carry a Covid negative certificate.
All of these decisions have been made because of the rising cases in nearby districts. People arriving for Kerala and Maharashtra already had the curb while this will now be implemented on people arriving from Tamil Nadu without a negative PCR certificate. The district health officer of Chamrajnagar told the media that besides these measures, the administration has also restricted admission to attendees for inaugural functions, government events or public meetings, and other potential super-spreaders of the infection.
