The eagerly anticipated “Manipal marathon 2023″ will start in Manipal on February 12 at 5 am, according to Dr. HS Ballal, provost of MAHE.At a press conference held at the Udupi Press Club, he stated, “The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is happy to announce the 5th edition of the Manipal Marathon on February 12 in cooperation with the Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association and NEB Sports Bengaluru. This marathon, which is the largest one organised by students in the nation, attracts thousands of runners from all over the world. The 42k full marathon, 21k half marathon, 10k run, 5k Udupi District Police Drug Awareness run, and 3k Rotary fun run are just a few of the numerous types of marathons that will be offered. 
This year’s edition will also mark the debut of a unique category for those with disabilities.
The purpose of the event this year is to raise money and awareness for people who require financial support for their treatment due to childhood cancer.
The event has received backing from ICICI Bank, who will serve as the Manipal Marathon’s title sponsor in 2023. Along with the marathon, the KMC Greens Arena will host a number of entertainment events.
The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races have certified this race’s course on a global scale (AIMS)
The marathon’s organising committee’s president, Raghupathi Bhat, stated that NEB Sportshas assumed the event’s organisational duties. Their recommendations served as the basis for choosing new routes. The locals’ obsession with marathons is growing every year. A lot of athletes are competing in this competition. This event attracts participants from abroad, which is admirable. Our district’s athletes should participate heavily in this as well.
There will be a special three-kilometer run for people with physical disabilities.
They’ll use wheelchairs to participate. For the special category, more than 100 individuals have already signed up.
In attendance were Dr. Deepak Ram Bayari, treasurer, Dr. Kemparaju HB, president of the Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association, Abithab Deekshith, zonal head of ICICI Bank, Nagaraj Adiga, director of NEB Sports, Dr. Vinod Nayak, sports secretary, Dr. Shobha, joint secretary, Dr. Dinesh Kumar A, secretary of the Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association, Lacchendra, member, Narayana, organizing secretary, Sachin Karanth, chief manager marketing, and others were present.
The Manipal Marathon aims to be a celebration of health, fitness, and community spirit with 10,000 participants signed up and a post-run festival. The Manipal Marathon has earned a deserved reputation as one of the best-run and most pleasant races in the nation.
The competition has a sizable prize pool of around Rs 16 lac.
