The government of Karnataka had cancelled the second PU examinations due to the second wave of the pandemic, The State education department on Tuesday waived minimum marks for the Common Entrance Test to enter into the engineering and medical colleges. The Deputy Chief Minister told the reporters that the PUC students don’t need minimum marks for CET on August 28-30 to get a seat in the engineering or medical colleges.
The state will conduct CET under the COVID-19 included guidelines in math and biology on August 28 and physics and chemistry on August 29 across the state, with 60 marks for each paper. Kannadiga students living in the inter-state border can give the kannada test on August 30. Registration process will begin on July 15.
The Minister said that minimum marks have been a norm form writing CET, the government is relaxing the eligibility due to the cancellation of PUC examinations. The minimum eligibility marks are 45% for general category and 40% for SC, ST and OBC. This year CET will be considered as a common base for admission into all science courses in professional colleges across the state. Admission in the previous year was allotted based on 50% marks in CET and 50% marks in boards. The ranking secured in CET will decide the admissions to engineering, pharmacy, medical, agriculture science and veterinary courses in professional colleges across the state.
The Minister has made it clear that the grading results of the II PUC students will be made available by the month end. The results will be based on internal assessments and marks obtained in first year exams held.
