After the Donigal part of the national highway 75 between Bengaluru and Mangaluru was repaired and found to be fit to handle heavy vehicular traffic after a two-month hiatus, all types of vehicles were allowed to pass through. The order allows all types of light and heavy vehicles to travel between the Marnahalli and Donigal stretch of the highway, which is located inside Hassan district boundaries. The order will take effect from September 28.
This order was given by Hassan district deputy commissioner. To the relief of the people of Dakshina Kannada district, the Shiradi Ghat road, one of the most essential communication linkages with the outside world, has now been allowed to be used by even huge trucks.Police officers have been sent to this road by the district superintendent of police. Executive engineer and highway administration of the district national highway department, as well as assistant executive engineer of the Sakleshpur national highway division, have been asked to put up necessary boards with directions and instructions, as well as to conduct proper publicity for the benefit of the general public. The deputy commissioner has assigned the technical system of traffic movement to the executive engineer of the district national roads department and the project director of the Project Implementation Unit.
After a mud wall adjacent to the roadway began to crumble near Donigal, traffic on the route was shut down on July 22. Vehicles were directed to use Bisale ghat road and Charmadi as alternate routes. Heavy vehicles, on the other hand, found it extremely difficult to go over this road. They can now breathe a sigh of relief.
