The Udupi district’s deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M won a National Award at Vigyan Bhawan, at New Delhi by the DG, NCB and Chairperson, NCPCR, on Wednesday, March 2.
Kurma Rao was nominated for this prestigious award for his exemplary service towards preventing drug abuse among children and also their trafficking.
Owing to his obligations in the district the DC could not attend the event in New Delhi. Wilfred D’Souza, DYO, NYK, Udupi received the award on his behalf.
Udupi was one of the top 20 districts that were selected at all Indian levels for the extraordinary work done in “Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse among Children & Illicit Trafficking.” Udupi is the only District that was selected from Karnataka for this honour.
