Udupi: Govt. to spend ₹1,611 crores on multi village drinking water projects in four taluks

At Rs 1,611 crore, a multi-village drinking water project will be developed in the Udupi district’s Byndoor, Karkala, Hebri, and Kaup taluks. The tender process for the project, valued at Byndoor Taluk, is now ongoing. The tendering round for a project of 390 crores in Byndoor taluk is underway. The remaining taluks’ project reports have been forwarded to the government for approval.

This year, the government plans to build 48 new pediatric intensive care units at the Udupi District Hospital and taluk hospitals in Kundapur and Karkala. Nirmithi Kendra has already started working with corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds donated by several corporations. Under the Chief Minister’s Vidya Nidhi initiative, the State Government has so far awarded 3.8 crores in scholarships to 15,775 farmer wards. 42 small irrigation projects total of 127.61 crores have been approved for implementation over the next five years.

The government is continuing to promote tourism by approving the opening of 57 homestay facilities. The government has allocated 10 crores for the Trasi-Maravanthe beach length in Byndoor and 15 crores for the Someshwara Paduvari-Ottinene stretch. It also granted a sum of Rs. 4.2 crore for the construction of a ferry jetty on St. Mary’s Island in Malpe. New bids for 28 projects totaling Rs 44.1 crore have been filed by the Tourism Department. The procession featured units from the police, coastguard, fire and emergency services, excise, and NCC.
