The DK district government plans to allow the Uroos festival at Ullal Dargah, a major Islamic pilgrim destination in South India, provided the number of daily Covid-19 cases decreases in Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod districts of Kerala. The Hazrat Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani dargah, also known as Ullal Dargah, has a 25-day celebration that draws thousands of pilgrims from all across the country. The event has been scheduled for December 23 to January 16 by the dargah committee.
Every five years, the event takes place. It was supposed to take place in 2020 (after the last Uroos in 2015), but it was postponed due to the pandemic. Mangaluru MLA stated We have already conducted conversations with the district government, and a nodal officer has been assigned. The dargah committee has been permitted to begin preparations, but the district government has yet to set dates, although we have provisionally scheduled the celebration for December 26.
