Development Committee headed by deputy commissioner K V Rajendra said the committee will pool resources to develop and maintain the park through rentals on video or photoshoots, events and fairs. The DC chaired a meeting of the park development committee on Friday.

“The music fountain and laser show at the old Deer Park, which is part of Kadri Park, will be restored soon. We will develop and maintain the park through a self-sustaining plan, by attracting more events. A music fountain and laser show at the old Deer Park will be repaired, and a decision to change the musical show theme will be taken soon. While laser shows will be presented during weekends, musical fountain shows will be held on all other days,” he said. Also, “The lake, ‘Ganganapalla’ inside the park will be developed to provide water for the garden, lawns, and fountains inside the Kadri Park.

The Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) will take up the development of Ganganapalla. Saplings of various locally available flowers, ornamental plants and medicinal plants will be planted in the park. A separate playing area will be developed exclusively for specially-abled children,” the DC said.

“The Mangaluru Smart City Limited has already developed a Smart Road between the old Deer Park and Kadri Park. The MSCL has been directed to submit a proposal for the combined development of the two parks. Food courts and stalls are being constructed by the side of the road. The newly developed parking facility, washrooms, commercial outlets and toy train in the park may be handed over to the Park Development Committee,” the DC said.
