Bantwal masjid opens doors to people from all religions

A two-decade-old masjid in Dakshina Kannada district has initiated an effort to invite people of all religions to visit the shrine, see religious rites, and connect with Muslim brothers and sisters who perform namaz. As per the masjid committee members, the concept of “Nammoora Maseedi Noda Banni” was introduced at Bolangadi in Bantwal taluk, 25 kilometers from DK, to allay any misgivings about the religion and build a strong interfaith relationship to nourish communal harmony in the region.

On Sunday, about 300 invited visitors from Hindu and Christian groups came to the masjid for the first time. A committee member mentioned that the masjid committee and Khatib Moulana Yahya Thangal Madani wish to guarantee that people of all faiths live peacefully and in harmony.

Many individuals are unaware of how masjid prayers are conducted. Many people believe that Muslims and masjids are the sources of social unrest. As a result, the committee devised a plan to invite individuals of all faiths to learn about masjids and meet with religious leaders. They have had a lot of positive feedback. It has prompted us to consider conducting such events on a regular.

The masjid was visited by people from various walks of life, including physicians, engineers, educators, and others, who praised the project. As part of our commitment, we will also maintain the masjid available to individuals of different faiths in the future. They are invited to attend religious sermons, which can be given in Kannada as well. Such actions would preserve communal harmony and help establish strong, friendly relationships among people of different religions in society, as per a former BJP MLA who attended the reach-out on Sunday.
