Breaking News: Weekend Curfew in Udupi District

New guidelines have been issued today (Sept. 2) following the rise of Covid infections in the district. According to the new guidelines, the weekend curfew will be in effect from Friday at 9.00 pm until 5.00 am Monday. The ordinance states that strict night curfews will be in force throughout the district as per the guidelines of 9.00 pm to 5.00 am.

What’s in the new guidelines? 

  1. Pubs are not allowed.
  2. Swimming pools are only open for competitive training with compliance with the Covid-19 Standard of Conduct (SOP) issued by the concerned department and the conduct of the Covid-19.
  3. Sports complexes/stadiums are open only for the practice of athletes with the conditions of compliance with the appropriate protocol. But the audience is not allowed.
  4. The gathering of all social, political, sports, entertainment, educational, cultural, religious, and other gatherings and events are restricted. 
  5. As per the government’s previous guideline for marriage/family celebrations with the conditions of following the Covid-19 standard procedure (SOP), it is permissible to exceed 50 percent of the auditorium capacity and a maximum of 400 people as specified below.
  • The organizer of the wedding/family ceremony should submit the application form signed with the invitation letter or any other relevant documents to the concerned Tahsildar. 
  • Upon receipt of the application, the Tahsildar will issue 400 passes for each marriage/family ceremony. Only people with a pass are allowed to attend the wedding/family ceremony and there is no opportunity to transfer the pass. People attending the wedding/family ceremony should adhere to the Covid guidelines and show their passes to official inspection officers. It is allowed to hold a funeral for not exceeding 20 people.
  • Places of worship are allowed to open temples, mosques, churches, gurudwaras, and other religious places. Covid has been allowed to carry out activities related to places of worship in accordance with the Code of Conduct and strictly adhere to the SOP issued by the concerned department. However, religious festivals, temple festivals, processions, and gatherings are restricted
  • Public transit is allowed up to 100 percent of seating capacity.
  • In all shops, restaurants, malls, private offices, and closed areas, Covid-19 will be implemented in accordance with the Disaster Management Act 2005. If not, strict enforcement will be imposed. 
  • Cinema halls/multiplexes/theaters/halls with a seating capacity of 50 percent are permitted to operate in accordance with the guidelines and SOPs issued by the concerned departments. 11. The opening of the Amusement Park and other places is complied with by the Covid Guidelines and Circular Guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare dated 12-11-2020. Water sports/water-related adventure activities are not permitted.
  • Students of all departments, including Nursing, Medical, Engineering, and Paramedics, who come to Kerala from Udupi District for the purpose of the study, should have the Covid-19 RT-PCR negative report done within 72 hours of entering the district. And 7 days of mandatory corporate quarantine adherence and end-of-day RT-PCR testing. 

 

The above Section 12 Guidelines apply to all employees who have been employed in the Udupi District and have visited the State of Kerala within the last 7 days of their arrival in the Udupi District or from the State of Kerala. It is the responsibility of the respective governing bodies/employers to implement these. 

Guidelines for Night Curfew: 

1) Public travel is strictly prohibited except for essential activities between 9:00 pm and 5:00 am.

2) Patients and caregivers with them allow individuals to be evacuated for urgent needs.

3) All industries/companies operating on the night shift are permitted to operate during the nighttime. And the employees who perform the duties in such a company may travel by submitting the relevant identity card/permit issued by the party. 

4) Employees and vehicles providing telephone and internet services can lodge and submit a valid identification card from their organization. Work from home except for staff and workers who need to work in IT and ITeS companies.

5) Essential services, including medical, emergency, and pharmacies, must comply with government regulations and ban other commercial activities.

6) All types of trucks are allowed to travel, including carriers and empty vehicles. E-commerce, as well as home delivery companies, are allowed to continue to work.

7) Bus services, trains, and air travel are permitted. Transport of public transport vehicles, private vehicles, and taxis to and from the airport, railway station, bus station, and airports, railway stations, and bus stations is permitted. It is mandatory for travelers to submit appropriate travel documents/tickets during travel.
