Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte celebrated the annual feast and silver jubilee of Infant Jesus from January 14,2021 to January 16, 2021. Government prescribed Covid-19 guidelines will be followed by authorities of the Shrine in collaboration with Girija Pharmaceuticals. Regular health checkups, providing masks to those in need, sanitization of the place of worship, providing clean drinking water and other facilities will also be made during the days of the celebration.
The special mass which will be presided over by Rev Fr Ronald Serrao, Rector, St Joseph’s Seminary will be conducted at 10:30 am on January 14,2021. The evening mass will be at 6:00 pm and be led by Rev. Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shivamogga. On the following day as well as on January 16, 2021 masses will be conducted at the same timings, and will be led by Rev Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru, Rev. Maxim Noronha, vicar general of Mangalore Diocese, Rev. Fr. Paul Melwin D’Souza OFM Cap, Vicar for Religious, Mangaluru and Rev Aloysius Paul D Souza, Bishop Emeritus.
On the first day, there will be masses conducted throughout the day with the mass in Konkani at 6am while mass in English is scheduled for 7.30am and mass in Kannada will be at 1:00pm. There will be a mass for the sick and aged at 10:30am in Konkani. At 6:00 am, the festal mass on January 15 will be conducted in Konkani at 6:00am, 7:30am and 9:00am while the mass for children is scheduled for 10:30 am and at 1:00pm in Malayalam.
In order to prepare for the festivities, Novena prayers will be held from January 5, 2021 to January 13,2021 with masses at 6 am, 7.30 am, 9 am and 10.30 am in Konkani; 1 pm. in Konkani; 4 pm in Malayalam, 5 pm in English and 7 pm in Kannada. The mass at 6:00pm will be one that is in the open air.
