Karnataka’s first LNG terminal to come up in Mangaluru

As per Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament, the government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singapore-based LNG Alliance Company to create the state’s first LNG terminal in Mangalore. The terminal, which will cost Rs 2,250 crore and will be built in collaboration with the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT). As per a press statement issued on Tuesday by a Member of Parliament, the initiative would directly employ 200 individuals.

The initiative is part of the Union Government’s plan to strengthen the alternative fuel sector to reach net-zero carbon by 2070. The Member of Parliament expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister and Minister for Heavy and Medium Industries for sanctioning the project to Mangaluru.
