Mangaluru City Police has launched two initiatives to improve its services and better connect with the public. Director General of Police (DGP) Praveen Sood announced the initiatives on April 16.
The first initiative is a feedback system that allows visitors to police stations to scan a QR code and share their opinions, complaints, or suggestions. QR codes have been set up in police stations and reception areas, and pamphlets have been distributed to promote the system.
The second initiative is a chatbot service that helps trace lost mobile phones. To use the service, individuals who have lost their mobile phones can send a message saying “HI” to the WhatsApp number +918277949193. They will then receive a link to a form where they can provide details of their lost phone. The chatbot service is only available to those within the Mangaluru city police limits and who know their phone’s IMEI number.
Since the launch of the Centralised Information Electronic Registry (CIER) portal, 757 requests for lost mobile phones have been filed, with 200 phones successfully traced and 120 returned to their rightful owners. These new initiatives aim to provide more convenient and accessible services to the public, while also improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the police force.
