The Maravoor Bridge, which connects the city to the international airport, had developed a crack in the afternoon on Monday 14 June, due to heavy rain, The temporary repair of the ruptured Maravoor Bridge is proceeding quickly. The contractor and engineers expressed confidence that the project would be completed by that time.
On Thursday, June 24, Mulki-Moodbidri MLA examined the progress of the repair work. He stated that after the bridge is rebuilt, only light cars will be permitted. “The replacement bridge is being built beside the destroyed bridge. After it is finished, we want to open it to vehicle traffic and then repair the old one thoroughly. According to MLA, the engineer and contractor have stayed at the repair site and are constantly monitoring the work based on the experts’ recommendations.
