Matsyagandha Express, the popular train that connects Mangaluru and Mumbai, celebrated its 25th anniversary on May 1, 2023. The train was flagged off on the same day in 1998, and since then, it has been a lifeline for the people travelling between these two cities.
To mark this special occasion, the Udupi Rail Yatri Association has decided to celebrate in a memorable manner. The Matsyagandha Express train will arrive at the Udupi railway station at 3.48 pm on May 1. The association has planned to tie a banner across the engine, offer flower bouquets to the loco pilot and guard of the train, and distribute sweets to the passengers.
The Matsyagandha Express is known for its punctuality, speed, and comfort. The train covers a distance of 1,067 km in 19 hours, and it runs six days a week, except for Tuesdays. The train passes through some of the most scenic locations in the Western Ghats and Konkan region, making the journey a delightful experience for passengers.
