Ms Akshatha K, the Project Associate at Nitte (DU) Technology Enabling Centre,has been awarded AWSAR 2021 Award for Best Popular Science Stories under PhD Category.
She is also the Project Associate at Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and Research Scholar at NUCSER, Nitte (DU) working under the guidance of Dr Deekshit, Assistant Professor at NUCSER.
“A TED talk by the Superbug” made it to the top 100 stories among ~ 2000 articles submitted across the country. The award was given on 28 February 2022 on the occasion of National Science Day. All the awardees are also selected to attend Science Film Training Workshop organized by Vigyan Prasar. The award includes a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- and a certificate of appreciation by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI.
Augmenting Writing Skills for Articulating Research (AWSAR) is a new initiative conceptualized & supported by the National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC) Division, Department of Science and Technology (DST) which is actively engaged in developing various outreach programs for the scientific fraternity. AWSAR envisage bridging the existing gap in communicating research to the common man by utilizing the latent potential of PhD Scholars and Post-Doctoral Fellows (PDFs). This program is being coordinated by Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous institute of DST.
