No plans to close inter-state borders despite spike in Covid, Omicron cases

Despite an increase in COVID-19 and Omicron virus cases in bordering states, the state government has no plans to close inter-state borders in Belagavi or other regions, as per the Higher Education Minister. All people entering Karnataka from interstate borders would be tested, and only those who were found to be sick would face restrictions.

A curfew and night curfews have been imposed across the state for a fortnight as part of the strategy to ensure that the situation does not get out of hand. However, inter-state movement and other activities will be allowed to go on as before, subject to the COVID containment protocols.

Bengaluru schools and colleges have been ordered to be closed for 15 days due to the outbreak of COVID and OMICRON. The government has already started vaccination programs for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years. Staff and students of medical colleges are being given booster doses as part of the precautionary measures. The State government will review the situation after 10 days and take appropriate decisions.
