Portable Pipe Water will be made available in K’taka Govt. Schools and Anganwadis

Portable pipe water will be made available to government schools and anganwadis in the state of Karnataka. The department of rural drinking water and sanitation has been receiving calls from various households, they are prioritizing making portable pipe water available in government schools and anganwadis as of now. This initiative is a part of the 100-day campaign that was launched on the 2nd of October under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

For the above-mentioned piped water service to be put into action, the government will be providing Rs 15,000 to Anganwadis and Rs 20,000 to schools. Furthermore, if at all the budget appears to be too less the Panchayat resources as well as 15th finance commission contribution can be made use of.

Commissioner of the department of rural drinking water and sanitation spoke about having a major database of the city already in place, with the help of which they would go about distributing the service to schools and Anganwadis. As of now, he said, the hope is to help out at least 40,000 schools and Anganwadis. Out of the aforementioned 40,000, 12,000 are schools while the rest are anganwadis. The piped water in question will be provided through three taps, each meant for the different areas of toilets, cleaning areas, and kitchens.

However, districts like Kalaburagi, Raichur, and Yadgir do not have sufficient tap connections and therefore newer ones need to be put in place. Once implemented, this will come across as a turning point in the running of educational institutions like schools and Anganwadis.
