Mangalore, as the native for Tulu Cinema had shown immense contributions to the wonderful art of Indian film industry, through providing a well known support and love the city has always provided aid and care for culture and art of various spheres. The city has also given birth to many leading actors in Indian cinema. As Mangalore is rich in its Arts, it also has many talented souls in the city.
There is such a gem who is making wonders in Kannada and Telugu industries from Mangalore, Chaitra Rai. She was born to Mr B.D VasuRai and Mrs Gulabi, and also has a younger brother. She got married to Prassanna Shetty and settled in Mangalore.
Chaitra did her schooling in Coorg and has a Bachelors in Hotel Management. She started her career in 2009 as an actress in Kannada soap ‘Kusumanjali’ in which she starred in a supporting role. Her big break was with Radha Kalyana, a hit Kannada serial where she played Vishaka and also won Kuttumba award for the same. Later she proved her talents in many Kannada serials like Gejje Pooje in Zee Kannada, Nagamani & Pournami in Kasthuri TV and Yuggadi & Bannada Buguri in Udaya TV. After Radha Kalyana’s success she began her acting debut in the Kannada film industry by playing a role in Jamboo Savari.
While working in Kannada industry she made her presence known in the Telugu Industry in 2013, by acting in a super hit serial ‘Ashta Chamma’, Her debut in Telugu won her many awards and her talents were recognized in several categories for her acting brilliance. She had been a part of other serials like Ala Modalaindi & Okariki Okaru on Etv Telugu, Atto Attamma Kuthuro on Gemini TV, Manasuna Manasai on Star Maa, and That Is Mahalakshmi on Zee Telugu etc. She is currently working in a project called ‘Attarintulu Akka Chellelu’, started in March 2019, in which she plays the role of twin sisters.
Besides serials she is very active in her social media platforms, where she has 365k followers on Instagram. She makes interesting contents related to Acting and Dancing and through her entertaining bits she has captured the hearts of millions.
Throughout her career she excelled in bringing life to many roles and through these characters she touched the hearts of many people all over Karnataka.
