Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) would expedite the issuance of Development Rights Certificates (DRCs) to citizens who have contributed their land for road-widening projects within the Corporation’s boundaries.
According to Corporation Commissioner Akshy Sridhar, Mayor Premananda Shetty presided over a meeting on December 31 to devise strategies to streamline the process in accordance with the Karnataka Town and Country Planning (Amendment) Act, 2021.
Property owners who had submitted MCC their property rights for road-widening five years or more prior to the Amendment Act’s beginning on October 7, 2021, would receive DRCs through a fast-track procedure. Property owners who have yet to get DRCs have been urged to provide the requisite documentary proof to the MCC’s TDR Cell in order to receive the certificates. Details of the land made available to MCC for road widening will be displayed on MCC’s website and on the TDR Cell notice board in the near future. Property owners may file an objection with the Commissioner within 15 days of receiving the notification. Following that, MCC would hold a hearing to discuss the fast-track issuance of DRCs.
