Many private stage carriage buses operating in the Dakshina Kannada district, particularly on long-distance routes, do not display destination boards in Kannada, as per social activists. The destination is shown on the board in English, which is inconvenient for people who cannot read English.

He has recommended that the Department of Transportation take appropriate action against such operators. Every bus operator, whether private or government, is required to display destination boards in the local language, as per the Transport Officer.
