The district administration and police department in Udupi have taken extra measures to ensure security with the upcoming assembly elections. As many as 17 checkposts have been established in the district, and vehicles are undergoing surprise checks by the district police. The police are also conducting surprise operations and checking warehouses for large quantities of materials.
District Superintendent of Police, Hakay Akshay Machhindra, stated that their operations will continue on a regular basis, and a social media monitoring cell has been set up to keep an eye on social media content. The police are also seizing any unaccounted cash and illicit substances. Checkposts have been established in several areas, and vehicles are being thoroughly checked for suspicious behavior.
The Deputy Commissioner, Kurma Rao, and SP Akshay Machhindra are conducting surprise visits to ensure the checkposts are functioning properly. In the coming days, CRPF personnel will be deployed at the checkposts to increase security measures. The police have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who violates legal frameworks, and interests of religion, caste, and language should not be used as tools for election campaigns.
